Uppercase Letter Videos

The Uppercase Letters section contains construction videos for each Copperplate capital.

Uppercase letters use larger movements, stronger curves, bolder shades, and more complex proportions than lowercase letters. Study the construction first, then practice slowly.

Use these videos together with the Uppercase Practice Workbook. Watch the construction image, study the movement, then practice one capital at a time.

How to Practice Uppercase Videos

Uppercase letters should be practiced slowly and individually.

Do not try to master the full alphabet in one session. Choose one capital, study its structure, then practice it several times before moving to the next.

For best results:

  • Study the construction image first.
  • Watch the video movement.
  • Notice where the shade begins and ends.
  • Keep the main structure clear.
  • Practice the letter slowly.
  • Compare your result to the model.

The goal is controlled structure before decorative style.

Construction Images

Each uppercase video can be supported by a construction image.

The image shows the order, direction, and structure of the capital before the video demonstrates the movement.

Use the image first, then the video.

Focus on:

  • Letter direction
  • Main structure
  • Shade placement
  • Curve balance
  • Entry and exit movement
Practice Order

Practice uppercase letters one at a time.

You can follow the alphabet order if that is easier for navigation, but do not rush through all letters in one session.

A better method is to practice one capital, repeat it slowly, then return to it later for review.
