Uppercase H

Copperplate uppercase H construction steps

The uppercase H combines two tall movements with a central connection.

The goal is proportion. Both sides of the letter should feel related, and the center connection should support the form without making it crowded.

Keep the tall strokes balanced and the middle connection clear.

Practice slowly and focus on five things:

  1. Keep both tall strokes balanced.
  2. Maintain consistent slant.
  3. Control the center connection.
  4. Avoid heavy pressure in the middle.
  5. Finish with clean hairlines.

If the H feels too wide, bring the strokes closer. If it feels cramped, open the center slightly.
