Uppercase W

Copperplate uppercase W construction steps

The uppercase W is built from repeated angled movements and a graceful finishing curve.

The goal is rhythm and spacing. Each part should relate to the next, without making the letter too wide.

Keep the repeated structure controlled before adding expression.

Practice slowly and focus on five things:

  1. Keep the repeated strokes consistent.
  2. Maintain even spacing.
  3. Control the lower turns.
  4. Avoid making the letter too wide.
  5. Finish with a clean flourish.

If the W loses rhythm, practice V first, then return to the full letter.
