Lowercase n

The lowercase n belongs to the compound curve family.
It is one of the main foundation letters for Copperplate rhythm. The goal is a clean entrance, a shaded downstroke, a smooth turn, and a balanced exit.
This letter prepares the hand for m, h, u, v, w, and many common connections.
Practice slowly and focus on five things:
Watch the pressure release before the turn. This is where the rhythm becomes cleaner.
- Start with a light hairline.
- Build pressure into the shaded stroke.
- Release before the turn.
- Keep the inner space balanced.
- Finish with a clean exit.
If the n becomes too sharp at the turn, release pressure earlier and slow down.
