Reusable mixing tool

Glass Pipette

Use a glass pipette to control water and ink precisely. Dried ink is generally easier to clean from glass than from plastic, even after several hours or days.

Useful applications

  • Add water to ink or gouache.
  • Transfer ink into a small container.
  • Rinse a nib with clean water.
  • Add liquid gradually during colour mixing.
  • Apply a controlled amount of ink when using an oblique holder.

Why glass is useful

Glass can be cleaned and reused repeatedly when handled correctly. Keep separate pipettes for different colours or materials when cross-contamination could affect the result.

Cleaning steps

  1. Empty the remaining liquid into an appropriate container.
  2. Rinse immediately with clean water.
  3. Draw in and expel water several times.
  4. For dried water-based ink, soak only the compatible glass section in warm water.
  5. For waterproof or Indian ink, use a cleaner recommended by the ink manufacturer.
  6. Leave all parts to dry fully before storage.
