Care & Use

Recommended Ink

Artful Hand Studio recommends fountain pen inks for these holders. The metal wire reservoir is designed to retain and gradually release fluid ink around the nib. Fountain pen inks flow well through this system and are easy to rinse away with water after use.

Avoid inks that dry heavily or leave significant residue, especially if you cannot rinse the nib and reservoir immediately after use. Dried ink can build up around the nib, wire reservoir or resin connection.

Filling & First Use

Dip the nib and reservoir directly into the ink when the container opening is wide enough. If it is too narrow to dip comfortably, use a dropper to add ink directly to the nib and metal wire reservoir.

The reservoir may hold less ink during the first uses. This is normal. With repeated use, ink progressively wets the metal wire, which can help it retain and distribute ink more consistently in later writing sessions.

Cleaning

Rinse immediately after use under cool or lukewarm running water. Do not use hot water, and avoid soaking the resin body.

Whenever possible, clean the nib and metal wire reservoir by rinsing only. Avoid rubbing or wiping them with fingers, towels, tissues or abrasive materials, as this could accidentally bend or disturb the fine wire.

Fountain pen ink can normally be rinsed away easily with water before it dries, making routine cleaning simple. After rinsing, allow the nib and reservoir to air dry naturally.

Storage & Care

The resin body is robust. Protect its polished surface from scratches to preserve the finish. If needed, wipe the resin body gently with a soft, clean cloth.

Avoid storing or carrying the holder loose with hard or abrasive objects. When resting it on a hard surface for an extended period, place it on a soft, clean cloth or other protective material, away from rough surfaces.

For drawer storage, loosely wrap the resin body in a soft, clean cloth or tissue. Take care around the nib and metal wire reservoir when wrapping, storing or handling the holder: do not apply pressure to either, or force the fixed flange.

Delivery & import charges

Each holder travels in its own parcel. Delivery within Switzerland is free. Tracked Swiss Post shipping costs CHF 14.50 per parcel to the European destinations offered at checkout, and CHF 17.50 to Australia, Canada and Brazil.

Artful Hand Studio is not registered for Swiss VAT. Import duties, local taxes and customs clearance charges may apply abroad. Any charges collected by the store are itemised at checkout; otherwise they are payable to the carrier or customs authority.

Collection 01 · Piece No. 02 · Deep Blue

Dark blue resin meets violet undertones in No. 02. Pale, flowing marks break through the deeper colour around the grip, giving this piece a layered appearance that changes with the light.

Made by hand by Edin at Artful Hand Studio in Lausanne, Switzerland, this resin oblique pen holder is part of a first collection of seven individual pieces for pointed-pen and Copperplate calligraphy.

Launch price: CHF 89.
