Pressure Release + Exit Hairline
This drill teaches the transition from a controlled shaded downstroke into a clean hairline exit.
Start with steady pressure, pull down along the slant guideline, then release the pressure gradually as you reach the baseline. The tines should close smoothly before you turn into the hairline.
The goal is a narrow, balanced space between the shaded downstroke and the return hairline.
Avoid forcing the turn. A tight turn should still feel smooth, not pinched.
Watch the movement carefully before practicing.
Focus on six things:
- Start at the top of the stroke.
- Pull down with steady pressure.
- Release pressure before the turn.
- Make a smooth turn at the baseline.
- Return upward in a thin hairline.
- Keep the upstroke parallel to the downstroke.
If the turn feels sharp, heavy, or crowded, slow down and release the pressure earlier.
