Lowercase u

The lowercase u belongs to the compound curve family.
It is built from a pressure-and-release movement with balanced spacing. The goal is a smooth entry, steady shade, clean turn, and light exit.
The u should feel open and rhythmic, not pinched at the bottom.
Practice slowly and focus on five things:
Use the pressure-and-release stroke as the base movement.
- Start with a light entrance.
- Add pressure gradually.
- Release before the turn.
- Keep the inner space balanced.
- Finish with a clean exit hairline.
If the bottom turn becomes sharp, slow down and release pressure earlier.
